I'm Mickie. Co-founder and CEO of One Strong Southern Girl. Our team is here for you. We want you to remember us because we helped changed your life.

Hello!

Home exercise can be a challenge.

It’s all too easy to get sidetracked with life when you’re at home.

I mean, the kitchen, the kids and the laundry are all just feet away.

You can do this!  But maybe you need to add a shot of adrenaline to the way you’ve been doing things so that your next home workout is irresistible.

Here are the best resources (tools) to help you create or remodel your home exercise routine into a rock-solid program that you’ll find easy and exciting to work into your daily schedule:

  • Exercise-on-Demand
  • You Tube
  • Physical Videos
  • Printed Workouts
  • Detailed Exercise Product Reviews
  • Equipment
  • Technology
  • Workout Clothes Subscription Services

Now, let me explain how each one of these resources can help you with your exercise routine.

This post may contain Amazon (or other) affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission. You can get more information about that here.

Where to Find the Best Home Workouts

Technology today makes it super easy to access a workout routine anytime and anyplace.

You have a bunch of options when it comes to finding home exercise workouts.

There are a ton of places to purchase videos or you can join in a live class (from your home gym).

Here are the best places to look for LIVE workouts:

On-Demand Exercise*

*With On-Demand exercise services you sign up for a membership and then get access to hundreds of routines that you can do simultaneously with a class or play from a live taping.  I highly recommend that you try out one of these options if you plan to do home exercise regularly.  They’re worth the investment.

All 3 of these On-Demand options are available to stream to your laptop, desktop, mobile device, Ipad, etc.

Daily Burn

Daily Burn is a good on-demand exercise choice

Daily Burn has 1000’s of workouts to choose from in every fitness level.

The membership is free for 30 days and then $19.95/month after that.

Here’s how Daily Burn works:

Cathe on Demand

Cathe on Demand is a good option for home exercise

Cathe Friedrich is a pro fitness instructor who’s been creating workouts for a long time.

She has an On-Demand service with hundreds of exercise routines that are for the intermediate to advanced exerciser.

You have two options with Cathe on Demand.

You can sign up for the Cathe LIVE workouts only ($9.97/month) or you can sign up for the Cathe LIVE workouts PLUS access all of her videos (free for 7 days and then $19.97/month).

Beachbody on Demand

You can find every style of workout on Beachbody on Demand—from yoga to weight training, as well as every fitness level—from beginner to advanced.

You Tube

you tube has home workouts

Don’t forget about You Tube when it comes time to plan your weekly workouts.

You might have to sort through a bunch of informercials but you can find decent workouts on You Tube.

Try typing keywords like: home workouts or home exercise routines

Pro TipFind your workout on You Tube a day in advance.  Otherwise, you’ll get sucked into the You Tube vortex and find yourself gazing at videos that have absolutely nothing to do with your workout or why you went there in the first place, and realize you just wasted your entire exercise time sitting in a chair (or on your sofa).

The Best Website to Buy Exercise Videos

Collage Video

collage video has exercise videos you can buy

Until I discovered On-Demand exercise, I’d been buying exercise videos from Collage Videos.

They have a huge library of programs with almost every exercise video you’d be looking for (with the exception of Beachbody programs).

The Best Place to Find Printed Workouts

Pinterest

Pinterest logo

Pinterest is not just a place to find great recipes and how to DIY everything you plan to do to your house.

Pinterest has a TON of home workout ideas all typed out for you.

Some of the workouts are on printables that you can download and stick in a folder for your home gym.

Just do a search using the same keywords you tried on You Tube (home workouts and home exercise routines) and Voila!

You can even drill down to specific styles of exercises you want to do (or areas of the body you’re trying to target) with searches like:

upper body strength training for women

cardio HiiT routines

10-minute ab workouts

Pinterest search for hiit workouts

Pro Tip: Follow me on Pinterest.  I pin a ton of home workouts.

The Best Resource to Help You Research Which Exercise Products and Services to Buy

One Strong Southern Girl

Don’t forget to look for reviews of exercise programs on my site before you buy them.

Just type in the workout you’re looking for in the search field:

the search bar at One Strong Southern Girl
Type the workout you’re looking for into the search bar under ‘Find a Specific Workout’

I haven’t reviewed every exercise routine ever published but I’ve posted detailed reviews of several hundred programs so it’s worth your time to see if I’ve reviewed the one you’re interested in before you spend too much time or money on it (only to find out it’s not for you).

Pro Tip—Request a review*!  Email me your request!  I love suggestions from my readers!

The Best Place for Exercise Equipment

Amazon (For Exercise Equipment)

Amazon logo

I know, I know Amazon is taking over the world.

But you can’t deny the fact that Amazon has practically everything you’re looking for.

If you live in a rural area (like I do) then Amazon is a great place to go find exercise equipment for your home gym.

I can’t run to Target (*sad, I know*) or Dick’s Sporting Goods unless I want to drive for an hour so I buy a lot of my exercise equipment on Amazon.

Here are some of my recommendations for exercise equipment you should have in your home gym:

Dumbbells

An Exercise (Aerobic) Step for step aerobics, weight training, body pump etc.

Exercise Tubing

Sliding Discs

Exercise Loops

A big Exercise band

A high-quality fitness mat

A stability ball (about 55 cm is perfect for most women)

The Best Technology for Home Exercise

There are SO MANY options for apps and tech devices (heart rate monitors, Fit Bits, etc.) you can get that will help you with your home exercise routine.

Honestly, I find it overwhelming when I try and sort through which ones are good and which ones are a waste of time.

These two tech options are my favorites when it comes to my home exercise routine:

Vi

Vi

When you purchase Vi you get a pair of fancy headphones along with their services.

If you incorporate running into your home exercise routine then Vi is amazing.

Aaptiv

Aaptiv is the best for audio fitness

Whereas Vi is for running, Aaptiv has a personal trainer for every kind of exercise style you can think of (running outside or on a treadmill, elliptical workouts, stretching, strength training and yoga).

I personally love the treadmill workouts.

The Best Resource for Workout Clothes

Wantable

And finally, I’ve saved what might be my favorite resource for home exercise for last.

The thing that always gets me excited to exercise is my workout clothing.

Wantable is the best solution to keep your workout wardrobe stocked with beautiful high-quality options.

Wantable is a great workout clothes subscription box

Wantable is a workout clothes subscription box.

There are a lot of services out there to get athletic clothes delivered every month but Wantable is my favorite.
