Hello!

Barre fitness is a hybrid workout class – combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Most classes incorporate a ballet barre and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements.  But the real difference between barre and other workouts are the isometric movements you usually perform – holding your body still while you contract specific muscles, until you shake and feel the burn!Cosmopolitan

I’ve reviewed hundreds of home workout programs and this list is a collection of my top recommendations for barre workouts. Each of these programs is barre at heart but presented in a way that’s unique to each instructor and program. I encourage you to try each one and experience how fun and challenging barre workouts are and how to fit them into your own workout calendar.

My favorite part of barre is that these routines increase your flexibility, coordination and balance while strengthening your arms, legs and core.

I also love that barre workouts are low-impact, ideal for any level of exerciser and use very little (if any) equipment.

And one more thing you need to know about barre–you’ll feel graceful, strong and beautiful after every workout. I love that.

Equipment you might need to do barre

Not every barre workout uses equipment but here’s a list of accessories you’ll see in some of the programs mentioned below:

Fitness loops

Light dumbbells (1-3 lbs.)

A stool or chair (waist to mid-chest height)

A barre ball*

*Buy the other tools before you buy this one. It’s the least used.

Great post! Can you please tell me which one is the most similar to Barre Blend and whether you’ve found another on demand barre workout that resembles Beachbody’s. Because I am absolutely inlove with it!

    • Hi! That’s a great question! There’s really nothing like Beachbody’s Barre Blend. I LOVE that program. If I had to pick one that you might like based on the fact that you like Barre Blend I’d recommend Xtend Barre. Let me know what you think if you try it! Thank you for reading!
