I trained and then ran my first Tough Mudder the year my dad was in the late stages of prostate cancer.
Boy, did I need something (else) to focus on. I had no idea how therapeutic training and completing the event would be for me when I signed up.
I went on to sign up for a second Tough Mudder 2 years later and I plan to do another one next summer.
Because I need it. And because I can do it. And so can you.
Whatever challenges you’re facing in your life right now they’ll be easier to overcome if you’ve got another focus in your life that serves as an outlet to plug yourself in to every day.
(Not to mention the psychological rewards that’ll stay with you the rest of your life once you cross the finish line.)
No one will be putting a chip anywhere on your body to track how long it takes you to finish the Tough Mudder.
I can’t emphasize enough how awesome this is.
I’m not a big fan of every kid getting a trophy but in this case everyone has earned it.
When you cross the finish line you’ll have earned bragging rights for the rest of your life.
And it won’t matter how long it took your team to get across the finish line.
You’ll all be winners.
It’s pretty normal to find yourself doing the same exercise routine week in and week out.
But eventually that leads to a fitness plateau and boredom.
Challenging yourself with the Tough Mudder will immediately inspire you to intensify your workouts (the way you’ve been meaning to for months).
Who couldn’t use a little more fun in their life?
When was the last time you climbed, crawled or slid down something? Odds are, it’s been a while.
If your fun-o-meter is maxed out then this message isn’t for you (and I seriously need a peek at your life because I’m curious what that looks like).
The Tough Mudder is the perfect way to blast a nice dose of excitement and fun back into your life.
You live in beast mode every day so why not embrace it in your fitness goals.

But someone is watching you train and conquer your Tough Mudder and it’s making a lasting and positive impression.
And maybe even planting a seed of an idea for that someone else who might need a little fitness inspiration in their life.
So, you’re not volunteering to spend a weekend mowing grandma’s lawn or feed the dogs at the animal shelter (both of which I recommend you do) BUT…
You WILL be helping other people the weekend of your Tough Mudder.
Whether you’re hoisting someone’s rear-end over your head to help them scale a wall, or just cheering them on when it’s time to jump off a ledge, you’ll be completing a benevolent duty the weekend of your event.
????And when you and your teammates cross the finish line you’ll all feel amazing because you’ve empowered each other to feel and understand just how much you’re really capable of doing mentally and physically—a lesson that’ll feed your confidence and open your eyes to all kinds of new adventures for the rest of your life.

If you’ve been tossing around the idea of signing of for a Tough Mudder for a little while but are scared you’re not ready for it. I’m here to tell you that you can do it!
So grab three to ten of your closest friends and commit to doing a Tough Mudder together.
Come up with a cool team name, start thinking about your matching outfits and commit to training.
Why am I encouraging women specifically to try out this fun adventure called a Tough Mudder?
Because of Girl Power! Because most women need this kind of therapy in their lives.
Listen, it won’t be that hard to find a few guys to join your team (and yes, you’ll need a few…make sure some of them are tall, it helps with some of the obstacles) but sadly most of the women you know will say, ‘I can’t do a Tough Mudder’.
Too often women are prone to underestimating what they’re capable of when it comes to exercise.
Don’t be that woman!
Now, I’m not suggesting you ask random females to do this with you. Be smart. You need a team of warriors who’ll actually train and who are willing to commit to a regular (fairly intense) exercise routine.
BUT we all know a few women who NEED THIS ADVENTURE and who would be AWESOME and INCREDIBLE at an event like the Tough Mudder and those are the girls you want on your team.
Why? Because you’ll both feel amazing when it’s over.
And who doesn’t want to feel responsible for helping another woman feel amazing?
Who doesn’t want to be on the receiving end of this comment from a fellow female: ‘I’m so glad you asked me to do a Tough Mudder with you!’
